I have a 18 volt "Black & Decker Firestorm" saw of this type, but it is very under powered, and the battery packs do not last well. I bought this "Bare-Tool", as I already own another DeWalt tool and have spare batteries and a charger. This DeWalt will out saw the B & D numerous times over and is an excellent buy.
I have many DeWalt tools so I already have many batteries and only needed the "bare tool" model. However, you get a face full of saw dust and I think DeWalt needs to address this with better exhaust. I usually use a corded saw but sometimes there is no juice available so I need a cordless saw. I really like the left side blade because I am right handed.
Great value as well. Only complaint is battery life, but I have not upgraded to lithium-ion yet. I'm a general contractor and use this saw often. Good weight, handles well, and has a thin kerf. I would recommend this saw.
I found other places for well over a $100.00. I buy from these folks again. This saw is an exceptional value. The saw was shipped when they said it would and it arrived on time.
Just be forewarned; order blades with the bare tool. Read the reviews and looked at the pictures prior to ordering and was convinced that blades came with the saw. Love the saw and the concept of bare tool. Big deal was made of the fact that batteries do not come with the saw. WRONG.
